Here's an example of what could be done locally with just a few dedicated folks and these people are just over the mountains
Mission
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive response to the mass care needs of individuals affected by large-scale disaster through:
* Providing nutritious, mostly organic, hand made, home cooked meals
* Providing opportunities to other grassroots, faith-based, youth and community groups to come together and offer their respective services to the affected communities
* Offering education opportunities to our own network and the public on issues such as preparedness, mitigation, response, and emotional/spiritual health
Our intention is to provide these services in the most accepting, neutral and healing space possible.
We are dedicated to mobilizing our assets and resources towards these goals. The collective experience of mass feeding in some of the most remote areas of the American wilderness combined with the overwhelming success of the New Waveland Cafe during the ultimate test of Hurricane Katrina makes us an organization that is unique in its readiness to respond.
Currently we are working to create a broad platform for other grassroots relief efforts to work in concert. During a disaster it can be very difficult to coordinate even the most basic logistics needed to actually deliver direct aid. We would like to invite other grassroots relief groups and community based organizations to join our network. We are much more powerful together than alone, and an efficient, coordinated, comprehensive approach is the only way to guarantee success.
